Additional Modalities



These additional modalities can be given on their own, but are usually used in conjunction with Shiatsu Therapy in order to enhance your treatment.  You may be offered these treatment methods as part of your shiatsu therapy session where appropriate, or you can request a particular modality to be included in your session. 
Additional Modalities in brief:

Cupping Therapy


Cupping Therapy - A mild vacuum is created inside glass 'cups', which are then placed on the skin to provide gentle suction, softening tissues and increasing the circulation of ki and blood - more about Cupping Therapy

 



Moxabustion


Moxabustion - Is a very nourishing technique which involves the burning of a herb 'moxa' on or near the skin, giving a gentle warming sensation and tonifying the ki - more about Moxabustion




  

Pranic Healing

Pranic Healing is a 'no touch' therapy, which exclusively treats the subtle energy bodies. It works on the principles that most dis-ease is first present in the energy body even before it becomes symptomatic, and that the body has an innate ability to heal itself under the right conditions. Pranic Healing assists by vitalising, regulating and cleansing the energy body, and the vorticies (chakras) within it  - more about Pranic Healing



Meridian Exercises



Meridian Exercies - These gentle movements improve the flow of ki in the energetic pathways of they body. Exercises may include stretching, self-massage, breath and imagery, and help to increase body/mind awareness and relaxation. Particular exercises are usually prescribed for treatment of specific health concerns - more about Meridian Exercises
